Spring can really hang you up the most...

Hi Reader,

Do song lyrics ever just hit the spot for you?

Doctors once prescribed a tonic
Sulfur and molasses was the dose
Didn't help a bit, my condition must be chronic
Spring can really hang you up the most

(from the jazz standard "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most")

These words no longer ring true for me, thanks to a long journey back to my core, and to my life purpose.

But they definitely reflected my inner reality, for many years in a row.

Even when gorgeous cherry blossoms were a quick bus ride away, I just didn't feel like leaving my house to go see them.

It may have been the beginning of Spring, aka a season of hope and renewal, but I wasn't having any of it.

"Just leave me to my misery," I thought. "The world's cherry blossom joy isn't welcome here."

It's painful when the things you're feeling inside don't match what the world is enjoying outside, isn't it?

And whenever you find yourself in a slump like that, it can be hard to ask for help.

Especially when everyone else around you seems to have their act together.

Well...I'm gonna let you in on a secret.

Don't let those picture-perfect Instagram posts you see fool you.

I've lived enough life to know that...we all go through stuff, at one time or another. We don't typically share those sorts of details on social media.

What's important is learning to spot when you're in a funk.

And then to figure out how to (re)light your inner fire, and zest for life.

Music has always helped me with that.

Even when things get dark, and life seems desperate, songs are always there to bring me light.

So, whatever is happening in your life right now, as the seasons change, do me a favor and remember to play your favorite music.

Deal? Ok, good. 😀

Rock on, Reader ✌️
