Take a beat. Or five.

Hi Reader,

We're into the home stretch of 2025.

There's something about shifting from Summer to Fall, or knowing that the fourth quarter of the year is just around the corner.

In between "OMG, where did this year go?" and "OMG, those grand plans I made in January...so much left to do!" we all hope to make these remaining months count.

I get that urge.

But it's also been the kind of year where SO much has shifted for each of us, inside and out.

Things that used to be predictable and reliable? Now not so much.

People we thought believed or valued one thing, then turned out to march to a different beat? Hard to swallow.

Jobs and careers that used to have a clear trajectory? You're just not betting on them anymore.

Last week, I merged 3 of my business websites into one.

It was a project that was long overdue.

And the overwhelm of having to maintain multiple websites was a huge buzzkill.

But I couldn't rush the decision, or the process.

In the last 12 months or so, I took on a massive business rebrand.

And it wasn't your garden variety "let's make a snazzier logo" or even "let's right-size our business operations."

It went much deeper than that.

I took a long, unflinching look at my entire entrepreneurial path.

Those 3 business websites were just the tip of an online presence iceberg that included 12 more domain names, 3 tries at building a podcast, 2 blogs, and one online magazine.

Each project was a sincere and hope-filled experiment in doing good work.

There were a bunch of reasons why they didn't take off.

In hindsight, one reason stood out above the rest.

They weren't my true calling.

There's the work you're told to do.

And there's the work you're born to do.

It's not always easy, or possible, to pursue your calling though.

Sometimes, our calling is buried so deep, or has been ignored for so long, we can't even tell or remember what it is.

When you're ready to unlock your calling, you need a toolkit that's gentle and effective.

In my case, music turned out to be a powerful part of that toolkit.

My connection to music runs deep, and long.

It reminds me of the people, places, and events that shaped me.

When I think about pivotal moments that changed the trajectory of my life, music was almost always present in some way.

Either playing softly in the background, or front and center, with melodies and lyrics saying "Go this way, child. You know this is what feels true."

When people say music is the soundtrack to our lives, they weren't kidding.

And that's why music is the inspiration behind my "5 Beats Challenge."

I designed the 5-Beats Challenge to reconnect you to the moving musical moments in YOUR life.

So that you understand just how meaningful your life's chapters have been - the good, bad, and ugly.

So that you see where music was there to cheer you on, or lift you up.

So that the remaining chapters of your life, just like the remaining months of this year, are a chance for you to finish strong.

Before you take on your next work project, I invite you to take the 5 Beats Challenge.
