Hi there Reader, How are you feeling about your work these days? Does it feel like work sands are shifting beneath your feet? Like one chapter is closing - or closed - and you're not 100% sure what's next? I attended an online gathering recently, and one of the participants shared he was "in the void." He felt adrift, knowing he'd left one season of his life behind...but he just couldn't figure out what to do, or how to be. I so get it. Transitions are hard. And, when friends or family are feeling adrift too, or when industries and organizations you used to count on are dissolving overnight, it can all be too much to handle. Oh, to be like our parents or grandparents, who could stay in the same company for decades, then retire with a long-service gift in hand, and a career they could look back on with pride. That's not the age we live in...but all is not lost. We just need to learn how to "think different." I know, easier said than done, especially when you're blindsided by a swift shift in work conditions. It's not like you can find new work right away. Like the gentleman I mentioned above, there's usually a time when you're in the void. Instead of feeling helpless in the void, I invite you to lean into the space it gives you to think, and reflect, and strategize. More often than not, that swift shift ends up being a blessing in disguise. The jolt you needed to pivot into something new. The space you'd craved, but never gave yourself, to make a work move you'd always dreamed of. The revelation that you were meant for way more than your last place of work. Ever heard that jokey phrase to "make like a tree, and leave?" This could well be your time to "make like a wave, and move." Who knows where the tide could take you! ✨ Rock on, Reader ✌️ Want help to bring more peace into your world?
